What is Arts Psychotherapy?

Arts Psychotherapy is a branch of Psychotherapy which integrates creative and arts based processes as a part of therapeutic practice.Through the use of multiple art mediums and methods of expression, Art therapy provides a space for clients to use alternative forms of communication, inviting various resources and states of mind that these practices evoke.

  • Play enables clients to explore and experience new modes of expression freely and without judgment, within a safe and secure environment provided by the therapist.

  • Helps Grow awareness and knowledge of self through interacting, dialoguing and relating with externalisations of internal system.

  • Bridges alternative ways of being through the interaction of various expressive and verbal forms of communication with each other.

  • Not focused on the ability to be artistic or produce art.
